On September 16th "The Commandant's Own," The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps performed a noon time concert for personnel and residents at the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in the Foggy Bottom area of Washington, DC. Following the concert Chief Warrant Officer Dix was sworn in as an honorary Corpsman recognizing him for his efforts in writing "Corpsman Up" the first piece of music specifically written for those who keep Marines in the fight; U.S. Navy Corpsmen.
West Coast tour 2009 kicked off the 75th anniversary season of the Drum and Bugle Corps. The drum and bugle corps traveled from Arizona to Calfornia, performing at various high schools, Marine Corps bases, and large venues such as the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Congressman John Larson (CT) and Marines of "The Commandant's Own" took part in a ceremony in front of The University of Connecticut Huskies Stadium.
The Ceremony showcased the arrival of one of the four traveling Vietnam War Wall Memorials.

and Director Staff Sergeant Swank. These Marines were featured as part of the Annual Staff Non-Commisioned Officer Parade. A Parade where

Washington, D.C.-- Sergeant Jonathan Alexander was selected as this year’s NCO Drum Major for the Sunset Parade. A native of Nampa.
Idaho, Sgt Alexander began his music instruction in Nampa Public schools. Before enlisting in 2004, Sgt Alexander completed three and
one half years at Boise State University. Following graduation from Recruit Depot San Diego in 2004, Sgt Alexander completed Marine
Combat Training in July 2004 before reporting to Marine Barracks Washington D.C. for duty with “The Commandant’s Own.”

Paris, France--
On the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Belleau Wood, where Marines were first called "Devil Dogs", The Marine Drum & Bugle Corps
flew to Paris to be part of the Memorial Day Ceremony. In the ceremony that included French and American units, the Drum & Bugle
Corps played on the same ground that Marines had fiercely fought on some 90 years ago. Also while on this trip the Drum and Bugle
Corps played concerts at the American Embassy, Invalides, and Celestin.

On April 10th the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps spent two hours with Fox and Friends. The producers were so impressed they asked the Drum & Bugle Corps to
stick around and join them in the after show that was broadcast on their website. Tomorrow the Drum & Bugle Corps will be performing a Battle Color
Ceremony in Baltimore. Currently the "The Commandant's Own” is preparing for this weeks performance back up in New York City.

San Diego, CA--
After two performances on Camp Pendleton it was off to San Diego were it was standing room only. While the Drum and
Bugle Corps drew moderate crowds during the week, the spectators came in droves to the final couple performances.
The final performance was delayed 45 minutes to allow the massive amount of people to be able to see the show. The
unit is now on its way back to Washington, D.C. were it will prepare for some scholarship foundation dinners and TV
appearances.

The place where many colleges long to play was host to the Battle Color Ceremony. With a crowd of over 5,000 people, the Rose Bowl
Stadium was a gracious host. Once again Music in Motion 2008 was bringing people to there feet before the last note was played.

29 Palms, CA--
"The Commandant's Own," moved on to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms in California. After a rehearsal day followed by a travel day the
Drum and Bugle Corps inspired and impressed another capacity crowd.

Yuma, AZ--
"The Commandant's Own," has performed is first drill performances of the year. After completing opening ceremonies
at the Yuma Air Show, they brought crowds to there feet at MCAS Yuma, AZ and later that night at Kofa High School.
Now that the show is on the field the drum and bugle corps will continue to tour for the next 10 days in California.

Dallas, Texas. "Everything is bigger in Texas," as the saying goes, so when the organizers of the
State Fair of Texas needed a military musical unit, they called one of the biggest and best known –
The U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.
“The Commandant’s Own,” making its 42nd annual appearance, answered the call and performed
at the State Fair of Texas, in Dallas, Sept. 28 through Oct. 12.
The grand opening for the biggest fair in the country began with a parade on Main Street,
with the Drum and Bugle Corps leading the way. The unit marched past magnificent skyscrapers
and sidewalks lined with enthusiastic crowds. Along the way, they played hallmark songs of
the Marine Corps, such as the “Marines’ Hymn” and the official march of the Marines, “Semper Fidelis.”
